Mumbai based manufacturer of PVC stabilizers, A.L.A. Chemicals and the Austrian stabilizer manufacturer Chemson Polymer - Additive AG have entered into an agreement wherein A.L.A. will produce in India lead free PVC stabilizers for PVC Cables, Pipes etc, based on Chemson’s know how. Chemson group is one of the world’s leading producers for PVC stabilizers with a global focus and operations in Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, United Kingdom, USA and its headquarters in Austria. This agreement will allow A.L.A. to produce lead free stabilizers based on Calcium and zinc for various applications like PVC cables, pipes, profiles etc. The stabilizers will be sold under the Chemson ‘ Naftosafe’ brand and will be made at A.L.A.’s plant near Mumbai and marketed by A.L.A. Commenting on this agreement, Mr. Alexander Hofer - Executive Board Member of Chemson Group - said : ‘ In today’s world, there is an irreversible move away from lead based stabilizers in the production of PVC pipes, cables and profiles. In fact, lead based stabilizers as the traditionally used products for decades aside tin based stabilizers will be phased out for all applications like it has happened already in the cable industry. ‘ The European PVC stabilizer producers are actively working to ensure that PVC is a sustainable material. In the Voluntary Commitment they are committed to phase out use of cadmium as a stabilizer, carry out risk assessments on lead-based stabilizers, and progressively to diminish their consumption to final phase out in 2015 (Vinyl 2010 ). Also commenting on this agreement, Mr. Anil Anand , Director of A.L.A. Chemicals said : ‘ We are extremely pleased and excited with this agreement, which brings A.L.A. and Chemson together, drawing on the production / marketing capabilities of A.L.A. and the tremendous experience of Chemson in the formulation and application of these products. The local availability of these lead free PVC additives combines and optimizes the strengths of Chemson in formulating and application knowledge developed over many years together with A.L.A.’s local production and extensive sales /marketing network, which will allow Indian companies to make the switch in these two large applications of PVC in India for both, the domestic and export markets.’ |
